What’s the difference between a free zone and non free zone company and what difference does it make to an employee?

Free zone companies are regulated in a slightly different way to “onshore” companies. There are certain types of companies (for example banks and insurance companies) that can only be “onshore”.

For an employee it does not make a great deal of difference. There are slightly different procedures that your employer will need to follow to get your visa but that is unlikely to cause you any difficulties.
