Dodge launches all-new 2017 Neon

Dodge has unveiled the all-new 2017 Neon, which will be the brand’s first compact sedan to enter the Middle East market in five years.

With a starting price of AED 57,400, Dodge says that the new Neon offers “unique” levels of roominess, convenience and comfort at such a price point. And if you don’t want to take the company at its word, it should help to know that standard features include six airbags, four-channel ABS braking, various driver aids, cruise control and front fog lights. Oh, and the manufacturer will also throw in a comprehensive five-year and 100,000-kilometre warranty.

Looks-wise, the Neon features Dodge’s signature crosshair grille, complemented by a rounded front fascia and swept-back head and tail lights. The brand says that the looks are supposed to echo the muscular lines of the Neon’s bigger brothers, the Charger and the Challenger. We’ll leave you to make your own mind up about that, but for a compact saloon, we think the Neon doesn’t look bad.

Inside, if you opt for a more expensive version, you get a front cabin featuring Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ U-Connect infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming. There are also plenty of controls mounted on the steering wheel for safe operation. Dodge also says that the Neon will seat five adults comfortably, with standard features including power windows, a six-speaker quality audio system with 220W power output, power-adjustable door mirrors and remote power locks.

Under the hood, the Neon has an e.torQ four-cylinder SOHC 16V 1.6-litre unit mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It’ll produce 110 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 152 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.
