KSA residents spend most on groceries in Ramadan

The biggest monthly household expense for residents of the UAE and Saudi Arabia this Ramadan is household groceries, according to a new survey from YouGov.

The survey was done ahead of Ramadan, and aimed to work out what residents of these countries would view as their main expenses. In terms of the results, 22% said that household groceries would be the top monthly expense, while 14% said utilities would be the biggest expense. Transportation was the biggest expense for 13% of respondents.

The survey also found that the majority (57%) of UAE and KSA residents expected prices for goods and services to rise over the month of Ramadan.

Still, the survey also revealed that residents in these countries do make good use of discounts and offers. It said that the most popular discounts were buy-one-get-one-free offers and price discounts – both of which were the number-one choice for 49% of respondents. Cashback vouchers were the preferred offer or discount for 36% of respondents.
