If you’re over 40 in Kuwait and you want to renew your driving licence, there’s a chance that you’ll need to provide an extra document to complete the process.
A number of traffic departments are taking measures to ensure that everyone on the roads has perfect, 20/20 vision. As part of these measures, anyone over 40 is encouraged to provide a photograph with their glasses on when renewing their driving licence.
The idea is that, if you’re wearing your glasses in your photo, the authorities can take it as read that you’ll be wearing your glasses while driving.
But if you don’t wear glasses, you’ll need to complete an extra step. You’ll have to go to the Qurtaba eye checkup centre to ensure your vision is still perfect. The checkup is provided free of charge, though – which is good news.
If your eyes are in top condition, you’ll be given a note from the optician, which you can attach to your application when renewing. Or, if your eyes aren’t perfect, you’ll need appropriate glasses and to provide a picture of yourself wearing them when you renew your driving licence.
