Okay, we all know that Black Friday is an American thing. Set as the Friday after Thanksgiving, it’s when the big retail stores in the US launch massive clearance sales to make way for next year’s stock.
Naturally, consumers go bananas for the deals, which are often incredible.

And in recent years, Black Friday has, sort of, made its way across to the UAE. It’s not specifically called Black Friday, but this weekend in Dubai, there will be a mega-sale across thousands of shops offering up to 90% discounts.
Obviously, you want to know where you can get 90% off, so here are our top picks of the shops offering the best deals this weekend (November 23 to 25).
Majid Al Futtaim Malls
Majid Al Futtaim is the company that runs Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Me’asiem and City Centre Al Shindaga – among others. The retail giant says that 420 of the shops at these malls will offer “unprecedented discounts”. Among the shops taking part are Zara, Harvey Nichols, Debenhams, Boutique 1, Forever 21, Sacoor Brothers and Centerpoint. Carrefour is also having a massive blowout – offering discounts of up to 90% on some items.
There’s plenty going on at Dubai Mall as well. The likes of Bloomingdale’s and Galeries Lafayette are taking part – plus a bunch of fashion brands, too. Expect big discounts at shops like American Eagle, Koton, Aeropostale, Topshop, Jack Wills, and Mango – among others. Basically, you’ll just have to get yourself down to Fashion Avenue to bask in the magnitude of the deals. You can expect discounts of 30% to 80%.
Dubai Festival City
No, unfortunately, IKEA isn’t taking part in this weekend’s sale. But that doesn’t mean there’s no reason not to visit Festivay City. There’s a big blowout happening at the Robinsons Department Store, which, UK readers, stocks plenty of stuff from John Lewis – just in time for Christmas. Get yourself down there for discounts of up to 80%.
Obviously, these mega-sales are a great time to buy if you’re looking to upgrade a TV or laptop. And while, unfortunately, the Apple Stores in Dubai aren’t taking part, you’ll definitely find great deals at Plug-Ins. The electronics chain is offering massive sales with up to 75% off some items.
