Green Art Gallery, which showcases new Middle Eastern artists, and ‘calligraffiti’ studio eL Seed are among the 20+ galleries in Alserkal Avenue, the city’s up-and-coming art quarter where you can browse and buy anything you want. See Mirzam’s gourmet chocolate bars, which are themselves considered to be works of art as well, being made at their Alserkal workshop and give in to temptation.
Arty boutiques abound D3 – Dubai Design District near the Business Bay. For homeware and books, there is The Lighthouse, which also has a restaurant for vinyl, stationery, and crafts. Go to the frame and boutique store F7 Design for clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories by local and a variety of other designers.
Dubai Mall, the world’s biggest mall, is packed to the hilt with more than 1,300 high-street and high-end stores and is located right next to Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Fountain. Fashion favorites from all over the globe such as Abercrombie Kids to Ermenegildo Zegna are all part of the shopping on offer. For the food lover in you, there is Arabesq selling Arabic baklava and sweets, Bateel for premium dates, and Patchi’s artisan chocolates.
Still not satisfied. Try Mall of the Emirates near Al Barsha for a comprehensive selection of international brands or BurJuman in Bur Dubai. Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates make your shopping even more convenient by offering a free doorstep delivery service to your hotel room.
All the malls take part in the Dubai Shopping Festival, which runs from 26 December to 2 February every year. The shopping extravaganza offers discounts and prize giveaways, such as cars, diamonds, and holidays.
