Flydubai will join Emirates’ Skywards frequent flyer programme on August 1.
If you’re a member of flydubai’s existing OPEN programme, you’ll automatically become a member of Skywards and start earning Skywards points when you travel with flydubai.
You can then use your points for a whole bunch of useful things, like discounts on flights with both Emirates and flydubai, seat upgrades and reduced rates on hotels, package holidays and hire cars.
That does leave the question of what happens to points you may have accrued through flydubai’s existing OPEN programme.
According to a statement, OPEN points held in existing accounts can be redeemed until 31 July 2018 for future flights with flydubai. Any points not redeemed by then will be converted into a flydubai voucher and sent to your registered e-mail address on 01 August 2018.
If you’re on OPEN’s Gold tier, however, you can apparently convert your reward points to Skywards Miles at a rate of two OPEN reward points for one Skywards Mile. Tier points will not be transferred, however.
