Do you travel a lot from the UAE to the rest of the GCC? We have some good news – mobile phone roaming just got a lot cheaper.

Well, that’s if you’re on the Etisalat network, anyway. The operator recently introduced new roaming rates that are 29% less for data, outgoing voice calls to the UAE, outgoing voice calls to GCC and local destinations, and outgoing SMSes.
These rates will apply when you’re in any GCC country, and they’ll work through any roaming partner.
The idea behind the new rates is to boost roaming services within the GCC at an affordable price, Etisalat said when it introduced the new rates in coordination with the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA).
Etisalat’s data and combo roaming packages still hold in countries outside the GCC. Currently, you can get unlimited data in 100 countries for as low as AED 35 per day.

And if you’re on any of the other UAE mobile networks, don’t worry. Traditionally, if one network lowers it prices, the others follow suit. Still, at the moment, it looks like Etisalat offers the best deals for GCC roaming.
