UAE fuel prices going up in January 2017

UAE fuel price

Fuel prices in the UAE are set to go up in January 2017, following a slight drop in the cost of fuel during December, the Ministry of Energy announced this week.

From January 1, then, Super 98 petrol will go up by 6.1% to AED 1.91 per litre. Special 95 petrol will see its price increase by 6.5% from December’s AED 1.69, costing AED 1.80 per litre from next month.

E Plus 91 petrol, meanwhile, increases by 6.7% to AED 1.73 per litre in January, and diesel sees a price hike of 7.1% to AED 1.94 per litre.

The fuel price rises follow a global rise in the price of oil. However, over the past week or so, oil prices have gone down again, meaning we may be in for cheaper fuel in February – if the cost of oil doesn’t rise again in January.
