Good news, fans of American muscle! Chevrolet has revealed a new Camaro.

Yep, it’s time for the Camaro’s mid-life facelift. Underneath, things are largely the same, but you get a new front end with angrier-looking headlights. The looks have divided Camaro fans, but we reckon it’s a worthy update – particularly in SS trim, on which with the Chevrolet logo has been moved onto the front bumper so that more air can get in through the grille.

But the updates aren’t only skin-deep. Chevrolet has taken this opportunity to introduce a new engine to the Camaro range. No, it’s not a big, snarling V8 – it’s actually a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder.

Yep, the Camaro is going the way of the Mustang in that regard.

Despite the subtraction of two cylinders, power should still be ample on the base model. You get 275 bhp and 295 lb ft of torque, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

There’s no word yet on when the new Camaro will make its way over to the Middle East, but this update is for the 2019 model year, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see it popping up in showrooms towards the end of 2018. And we also wouldn’t be surprised to see Chevrolet stick an automatic in that four-cylinder version further down the line.

Still, for now, that’s the crack. What do you think? Do you prefer the looks of this new Camaro over the current one?
