There\u2019s a new Ferrari. Welcome to the Ferrari 488<\/a> Pista, a track-focused, special edition of the already very potent 488.<\/p>\n

By now, you\u2019ll know the drill with these mid-engine V8 Ferraris. Ferrari will bring out a new model that absolutely changes the game in terms of driving pleasure and supercar handling, and then, a few years later, it\u2019ll release a stripped out, hardcore version of that car.<\/p>\n

The Pista is the hardcore version of the 488, and is the spiritual successor to the 458 Speciale. That\u2019s lauded as one of the best supercars ever made, so the 488 Pista had better be something pretty special.<\/p>\n

Well, certainly, it won\u2019t be wanting for power. Ferrari has tuned the 488\u2019s 3.9-litre, twin-turbo V8 so that it now develops 711 bhp. Oh, and for good measure, the Pista is 90 kg lighter than the standard 488.<\/p>\n

That means, Ferrari says, that the 488 Pista will do 0-100 km\/h in 2.85 s (!!!), 0-100 km\/h in 7.6 s, and go on to a top speed of \u201cover\u201d 340 km\/h.<\/p>\n

Anyway, the Pista will be just as much about noise and handling as it is about speed and power. So there\u2019s a new Inconel exhaust, new front and rear diffusers that improve downforce by 20%, and a new slip control system so that you can drift the car to your heart\u2019s content.<\/p>\n

Inside, there are no carpets as standard, and you get a four-point seatbelt along with much Alcantara and carbon fibre. Ferrari will let you option all of the luxury stuff if you want, but the idea behind the 488 Pista is that it\u2019s a track car you can use on the road; not a road car you can use on the track.<\/p>\n
