This is a picture of the two-millionth Fiat 500<\/a> rolling off the production line at the company\u2019s Tychy Plant in Poland.<\/p>\n

Yep, since it was re-launched in 2007, Fiat has built two-million 500s. Among those have been 30 special editions, including performance versions in the Abarth<\/a> 500. It\u2019s been sold in over 100 countries worldwide, and is the top seller in nine.<\/p>\n

Not bad for an 11-year-old car that\u2019s remained largely unchanged since it was first launched.<\/p>\n

The two-millionth model pictured here is a Fiat 500C \u2013 the convertible one. It\u2019s powered by a TwinAir 85 bhp engine that actually wasn\u2019t available on the launch model, and rides on 16-inch rims. Inside, there\u2019s an infotainment system as standard, but other than that, it\u2019s largely the same as any Fiat 500 would have been in 2007. Its new home will be in Italy.<\/p>\n

Certainly, there\u2019s something to be said about the allure of the 500. It\u2019s the only Fiat passenger car officially available in the UAE (though we did just see the launch of Abarth<\/a> in the country, too). And though it isn\u2019t really well suited to the vast highways of the UAE (trust me, I own one), its peppy character and cute looks make it a pretty desirable car.<\/p>\n

Anyway, there seems to be plenty of life left in the Fiat 500, even after 11 years. The plant in Poland is building over 200,000 Fiat 500s a year. And, no doubt, there\u2019ll be plenty more special editions that come along, too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
