Okay, the Dubai International Motor Show is in a couple of weeks. And what usually happens in the run-up to the show is that carmakers regionally launch one or two of the stand-out cars that they’ll be showcasing at the event.

Ford, though, has taken that strategy to the extreme. Instead of launching one big car ahead of the show, it’s given us three.

Yep, this week, Ford Middle East took the wraps off the new, GCC-spec Mustang, Expedition and F-150.

Being a MotorGeek, you’ll obviously want to hear about the new Mustang first. Well, the new model moves away from the sleeker looks of the current one, instead going for a more aggressive, muscle car design. And there’s more grunt. The GT model comes with 460 bhp and 570 Nm of torque, while the EcoBoost model offers 310 bhp and 475 Nm of torque.

Oh, and a new, 10-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard on all models, though you can spec a manual on the GT model if you’re so inclined.

Moving onto the new F-150, obviously this is a big deal. The Middle East loves its pick-up trucks, and the F-150 is a favourite.

Happily, there’s plenty of power in the 2018 update. The new F-150, Ford says, will tow up to six tonnes, thanks to its 3.5-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo V6. And at the top of the range, there’s a 5.0-litre V8. Looks-wise, there has only been a slight nip and tuck, and the interior gets a few more gadgets and toys.

Finally, there’s a all-new Ford Expedition, the brand’s big family SUV. This is actually the car that underpins the new Lincoln Navigator, so it’s enormous, practical and, even as a Ford, reasonably luxurious.

New for 2018, you get sleeker looks, a way-upgraded interior and the aforementioned EcoBoost V6, here developing 400 bhp. Ford also promises improved off-road ability, with seven drive modes, including a sand mode. That’s paired with a two-speed transfer case with low range and a rear electronic limited slip differential.
