Good news, classic car fans! The Aston Martin DB5 is set for a new limited production run in special Goldfinger guise. This means you could conceivably own one of James Bond’s most famous cars.

Well, provided you have AED 13.15 million (plus taxes) to spare. Yep, Aston Martin is recreating the famous DB5 from the Goldfinger film – gadgets and all – and is selling it as the ultimate collector’s item for James Bond fans.

And it really is just a collector’s item. According to Aston Martin, none of the 25 that are being produced will be road legal. We’re assuming that this will be down to the fact that these DB5s will be so full of wondrous James Bond gadgets that they wouldn’t be safe on public roads.

What gadgets, you ask? So far, Aston Martin is playing that one close to the chest, but it said that the revolving number plates will definitely be included. For the others, Aston Martin has partnered with Oscar-winner Chris Corbould, special effects supervisor from the James Bond films. Here’s hoping there’s an ejector seat.

What else is this car about? Well, you can only specify it in one colour – the same Silver Birch that was seen on the original in Goldfinger.

It may be a multi-million-dirham toy, but you know you want one. Since it first appeared in Goldfinger the Aston Martin DB5 has featured in a further six James Bond movies. It was in Thunderball (1965), GoldenEye (1995), and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). It’s also been in three of the Daniel Craig films – Casino Royale (2006), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).

On top of the regular production run of 25 cars, Aston Martin is building three more Goldfinger DB5s – one for itself, one for EON Productions (which produces the James Bond films and has partnered with Aston Martin for the project), and one for auction.

Deliveries of this Aston Martin DB5 will begin at the end of 2019.
