Jeep. It’s one of the world’s few mainstream car brands to really pride itself on creating properly good off-road vehicles. Sure, a couple of soft-roaders snuck into the range in the mid-2000s, but at the moment, the range is chock-full of cars that are best-in-class when it comes to taking on the rough stuff.
Indeed, if you buy a Jeep, there’s a fairly decent chance you’re going to want to take it off-road. A point that Trading Enterprises, the official distributor of Jeep in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, is quick to recognise.
So, last weekend, the dealer put on something a little bit special. It invited Dubai’s off-road enthusiasts to something it called ‘Jeep Adventure Days’, a two-day event at Dubai Festival City where Jeep owners could take to two off-road tracks designed to replicate tough off-road conditions.
One course was built specifically for the new Jeep Wrangler JL, which was on show at the event. It’s also the one of the toughest off-road cars on the market today, so the course featured seven different obstacles including articulation, a mud bath, extreme bumps, bridge trailer, rocks and sand pit.
The other track – a slightly less demanding version of the first – was built for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee Trailhawk and Renegade. And the all-new Jeep Compass was on show for people to check out as well.
Naturally, all of the cars showed perfectly well why Jeeps are so coveted among people who like a bit off-road madness. And visitors in their own Jeeps were invited to take on the courses, too. And while non-Jeep cars weren’t allowed on the courses, Jeep provided off-road ‘taxi rides’ with professional drivers for owners of other cars, so they could still experience the off-road excellence.
In all, 600 cars carrying 1,000 people turned up to the event. And the whole thing certainly proved, once again, that Jeep really is the brand you’d choose if you’re serious about off-roading.
