Last week, Al Nabooda Automobiles teamed up with the VDubz team to organise an epic road trip through some of the UAE’s best roads.

VDubz is one of the most active Scirocco and Golf owners’ clubs in the region, and the event was a sort of celebration of the Golf community’s passion. Al Nabooda, the VW distributor in Dubai and the northern emirates, has always been pretty supportive of local owners’ groups, so it was only too happy to get involved in the road trip.

The drive started at the Volkswagen Sharjah showroom, where 30 cars carrying 50 VDubz members turned up for a day of killer motoring. The route took the convey of Golfs through the stunning mountain roads leading to the UAE’s east coast, and ended at the Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah hotel in Fujeirah.

And at the finish line, VDubz members were treated to an exclusive preview of the recently updated Golf R. The new, top-of-the-range Golf has been given a power boost so that it now develops 290 bhp and 380 nm of torque. It’s also had a major tech upgrade, with features like gesture control and a sleek new infotainment display coming as standard.

That’s high-end executive saloon tech – in a AED 150,000 hatchback? Where do we sign up?
